FACILITIES

    The Ateneo Professional Schools serves primarily the Ateneo Law School (ALS), Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB) and  Ateneo School of Government  (ASG). The Library is also open for use by outsiders except High School students. All library users have free access to the open stack collection.

LOCATION OF THE LIBRARY

    The Library is located at Basement 1 of the Ateneo Professional Schools Building, occupying almost all the said basement with a mezzanine to boot.

    The library upkeeps the following Rooms:

a) Faculty Reading Room: available in this room are duplicates of Philippine Reports (PR), Supreme Court Reports Annotated (SCRA) and other law reference materials.

b) Special Collection Room: displays rare law primary source in Civil, Criminal and Commercial law collection in Spanish and other special materials.

c) Reference Room: This room also houses two Internet stations which can accommodate students who needs to surf the Internet. Stores and services law vertical files, Supreme Court Advanced  Decisions, current Official Gazette, primary U.S. and other foreign countries' reference materials. Indexing and encoding of local law materials are also processed here.

d) Periodicals Room: houses and services current journal subscriptions of law and business. Also housed are business theses, both in hard copies and in microfiche form, business vertical files, annual reports, newspapers and microfiche reader/printer.  In addition of what is in inside the Periodicals Room, aside from the four (4) Internet workstations, it's newly acquired Serial Manager brought ease and convenience in handling subscriptions, vendors, receiving, routing and claims.

e) Circulation: a busy area where users borrow and return loaned books, law theses and video tapes for faculty members. This is also the place where students can request library clearance, Inter-Consortium Cards (IUC), and referral letters.

f) Audio Visual Room: a thirty one (31) seater room fully equipped with TV, VHS and beta players, multimedia / interactive computers and LCD projector.  It can be used fro library orientations and for group or individual viewing of tapes.  Internet and PowerPoint presentations are also available for small classes of Business and Law.

g)  Electronic Resources Room: equipped with three (3) file servers, with 20 CD drivers, scanner, local printers and 81 computer workstations.  35 of which are available for Internet access ( 21 in electronic Resources Room, 5 in Periodicals Room, 2 in Reference Room, 1 in special Collection Room, 1 in AVR, 3 in Technical Services Room and 2 in the Office of the Librarian ).  6 workstations for encoding purposes, 3 for multimedia / interactive use and 4 for the library's local area network system.

h) Technical Services Room: where the library's books and non-printed materials for acquisition are processed, catalogued, classified, encoded, labeled and stamped before they are made available for use.

i) Staff Lounge/Conference Room: provides amenities such as; a spacious kitchen, two comfort rooms, two TV sets with 1 multi system player, dining area, receiving area and staff meeting area.

j) Photocopying Room: equipped with three brand new photocopying machines where students/visitors can run for their documents .  Another machine is available at the 3rd Floor.

k) Office of the APS Librarian: where collection development with school heads and faculty members are decided and where students can consult the Chief Librarian for in-depth library matters.

l) Reading Areas: occupies almost the whole of basement 1, have a seating capacity of 471 users at any given time.  In addition, there are 96 individual carrels in the Mezzanine Area, this totals 567 seats available in the entire library.

PERSONNEL

    The APS Library has in its rank, five full time Professional  Librarians and 15 support staff to effectively manage the library the professional way.  Each are given assigned tasks to execute to the best they can but can handle other tasks in a substitute capacity whenever needed. This will ensure the continuous workflow in the library as a whole.
